The third installment of “Star Wars” spinoff “Tropics Thunder” is a new movie for the franchise, Disney’s Lucasfilm told TheWrap.
The new movie, due out on Dec. 18, will follow the titular titular character, Finn, as he struggles to survive in the wilds of the Adirondacks.
It will be written by Chris Weitz and starring Olivia Munn, Tom Hiddleston, John Boyega, Max von Sydow and Toby Kebbell.
The cast of “Trophies Thunder” will include Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Cho, Laura Dern, Oscar Isaac, Max Von Sydow, Benicio Del Toro and Mark Hamill.
“Tophats Thunder” director Ben Wheatley confirmed that he’s written the new movie’s script, but declined to share any details.
“It’s going to be pretty good,” he said.
“I’m a huge fan of the series, and I’ve always been interested in it and wanted to do a Star Wars film.
And now I have a really fun time writing it.”
Weitz previously served as an executive producer on “Star Trek Beyond” and has also written for “The Flash,” “Fargo” and “The Americans.”
Wheatley said the movie will also be set in a “Star War” universe.
“There’s a lot of stuff that’s happening in this galaxy that I’m not going to reveal, but it will be very much a Star War story,” he added.
“If it’s not that, then I’m going to have to come back to this in a couple of years.”
Weitzer, who directed the “Titanic” reboot last year, said he’s already written two other “Titans” movies.
“My favorite thing about ‘Trophics Thunder’ is that it’s so much fun to write, to be able to explore a story that is very different from anything that’s been out before,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in February.
And there’s a certain level of trust that comes with it, that the audience trusts you to do something that is different than anything else you’ve ever done before.”
